Electrical Engineering N1-N3 Post

Electrical Engineering N1-N3

What you should know about Electrical Engineering N1-N3.

Electrical engineers are in critical need in industries such as power or energy generation (Eskom), telecommunication, engineering, computing, construction, energy, manufacturing, transport and utilities companies and the armed forces. The National Certificates N1-N3 in the Electrical Engineering, programme cover heavy current as well as light current. Heavy current includes the distribution of electricity, domestic wiring in civil and industrial industries. Light current includes fields such as digital electronics and industrial electronics. The programme progresses through three levels. Each N level takes place over a minimum of one trimester.

After each trimester, students are eligible for a National Certificate on that level. We recommend continuing through all three levels and doing N4, N5 and N6 in order to qualify for the National Diploma. The National Diploma requires students to work for a minimum of 18 months in the Electrical field before they are entitled to receive a National Diploma.

Admission Entry Requirements

    • N1 Entry Requirement: Grade 9 (Std 7) Certificate with a pass in Mathematics and Physical Science OR no formal qualification required for everyone 23 years or older.
